Regional Trails Specialists
The Regional Trails Specialists at the North Carolina Trails Program work to support and promote all types of trails across North Carolina. They directly support the state parks system through trail assessment, planning, design and corridor flagging for new trail, as well as trail renovation projects at the parks. The specialists also provide training and education to park staff on sustainable trail construction and maintenance techniques.
The Regional Trails Specialists work on trails system outside of state parks, too. They are involved in the planning and promotion of all trail and greenway projects across North Carolina, providing technical expertise to state and federal agencies, local governments, private stakeholders, landowners and trail user groups. Each trails specialist is responsible for one of the three geographical regions: Mountain, Piedmont and Coastal.
